This piece was painted by Marie. Marie has a diagnosis of Chronic Depression and suffers from anxiety, addiction and paranoia brought on by continued ill health such as COPD, chronic asthma and curvature of the spine.
Ill health meant Marie missed a lot of schooling and cannot read or write. Marie has been with the LCCL Pop Up Art project for three years and attends daily. Her symptoms of anxiety, anger and paranoia have decreased and she now feels a sense of belonging in the Pop Up Art family.
Marie said: “Pop Up Art gave me my life back. Nobody judges you in here. When I started, I couldn’t hold a paintbrush and now I am completing projects that I am proud of. Painting helps me relax. I look forward to painting my project each day and seeing it transform and I have made many friends here.”
